Munir is an expert in the field of digital money and financial inclusion, with over 12 years of experience working across the globe. He has a strong technical background in mobile payments and in-depth experience in financial inclusion policy formulation and implementation. He helped established, launched and scaled up a mobile money service in Nigeria. As a Senior Regulatory Specialist at the GSMA in London, he was the principal architect of a global consumer protection scheme for mobile money operators. This scheme defined industry best practices to ensure safe, transparent and reliable financial services for over 210 million mobile money users worldwide. And with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Sudan, he developed a payment solution & digital financial inclusion strategy as part of the Government of the Republic of Sudan’s Family Support Programme – a large-scale cash-based transfer (CBT) designed to provide monthly support to 80% of Sudanese households.
